Well done to Year 11 for their hugely impressive GCSE results. Despite gloom in the national picture, 90% of St Joseph’s Y11 pupils achieved at least 5A*-C grades including Maths and English, and it was lovely to see every pupil receive results they should be very proud of. Well done Year 11!

The final night of We Will Rock You was a fitting conclusion to the three night, and one day, run of the musical We Will Rock You in the school hall. I was so proud of everyone involved, and to hear so much praise for everything the children and staff achieved was quite something. Thank you to everyone involved, and to all those who came to take their seats in the audience. A quite remarkable effort, closer to a professional show than a school play. These really are the days of our lives.

Do remember to log on to www.easyfundraising.org.uk when making online purchases, set up an account and select Friends of St Joseph’s School Launceston, Cornwall as your good cause. Then, each time you shop online the participating retailers will make a donation to the Friends. Over £160 has been raised to date, thank you to all who have used the site so far. Simple, effective and free: and supporting the Friends, who support the school.

Do make sure you buy your tickets for the school production of We Will Rock You; it is sounding fantastic in rehearsal and the lighting and sound upgrade for the hall (thank you to the Friends!) will mean this really is a spectacular event! Tickets are available via reception, please don’t miss out on a chance to see the best of the music and drama the school has to offer! Tickets will also be available at Senior Prizegiving. Any help manning the bar or any other assistance on any evening would also be gratefully received.

The Royal Cornwall Show is a great chance to see former St Joseph’s pupils, and starting the day seeing two of those from my former tutor group was really lovely. Great to see what everyone gets up to in their lives after leaving us – alumni, do please do keep in touch. The rain has held off, and the stand is busy. Thank you to staff and governors whose windmill making skills really are quite something to behold!
