Pupils at this stage at St Joseph's enjoy a smooth start to their progress through the school, whether or not they've already attended our nursery. This is not only thanks to our highly experienced staff, but because they find themselves in a friendly, secure and caring environment, and because we cater for their needs and abilities, child by child, in small classes.

An Independent Schools Inspection in 2008 judged our early years department an 'Area of Excellence', which reflects the wealth of opportunities and facilities open to pupils, whether  specialist teaching for French, Music and PE, extra-curricular clubs in Science, Football and Music, options to learn Tennis and Ballet, or to be taught Music one-to-one.

Early years learners enjoy the use of the school's extensive grounds and all its facilities, from the French or Music Room to the Library and ICT suite; we maintain a stimulating and varied learning environment, too, and periodically have themed weeks, on the likes of Science, Sport, Art, Diversity and Language.
