Mr Ian Barton Bsc(Hons), ACA
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1988, Ian moved to Deloitte, Haskins & Sells for a short period before being seconded and ultimately employed by Norcros plc in 1990.
In 1992, he was appointed group head of taxation for this FTSE250 company and in late 1994 moved to Nortel Networks as Director of European Tax. Nortel was the largest Canadian company and by the summer of 2000 was the eighth largest company as measured by market capitalisation anywhere in the world with total global revenues exceeding US$33bn with US$8.4bn being generated in Europe.
Ian was a Board director for Nortel Networks plc in the UK and also a member of the UK pension fund management committee. After a short spell at KPMG in London as a senior tax consultant, he decided the time was right to run his own business and bought a hotel, bar and restaurant in Yorkshire.
In 2006 he moved with his family to Cornwall after selling the hotel as a development opportunity.
Ian took over the role of Bursar in August 2011 and has helped to make significant changes both in areas of financial control, the fabric of the school buildings and the grounds.

Mr A Gillies - Parent Governor
Andy has worked in radio since leaving Cambridge University in 1981, starting initially as a trainee presenter at Hereward Radio in Peterborough eventually becoming programme director for the 4 radio stations in the Mid Anglia Radio group. He left to join BBC Radio Sport where he produced several programmes including Cliff Morgan's "Sport On 4" and later became Editor when Radio 5 Live was launched. Andy turned freelance in 1996 when he returned to the family home in Scotland, and in the last 20 years has reported on sports events and produced programmes for BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live, and BBC Radio Scotland.
Andy moved to Cornwall 7 years ago and along with his wife runs a small self-catering holiday business near Bude, while continuing to broadcast.
All three of Andy’s children have attended St Josephs, so he has experience of the school from reception to year 11.
Ms S Graybow - Parent Governor
After training as a registered nurse in London Sara decided to change careers completely and join an estate agency. As part of the management team she was involved in a management buyout and then the purchase of a 48 office business.
Responsible for running their London sales operation she had a staff of 100 and 13 offices to oversee.
Sara 'retired' from her job and moved to Cornwall some years ago with her family, her daughter is in the Senior School at St Joseph's. Sara is a parent governor and has particular responsibilities to marketing and supports the registrar in her role.
She is also a member of St Joseph's Friends Committee and acts as the governor's liaison member.

Mrs L Holmes - Parent Governor
Louise has had an exciting and rewarding career in the hospitality and retail sector since leaving full time education. Primarily she trained as a chef but later specialised in training, development and general HR. The majority of her employment has been in the London hotel scene, where she was responsible for training all levels of staff to deliver 5 star standards and the development of the business standards of performance. She went on to set up a training and development department at a London pub company where she wrote and delivered training programmes designed to empower and support new employees to run successful hotels and pubs within the capital and the Home Counties. Louise went on to write, deliver and train the Foundation Degree in retail hospitality for those in the pub industry as part of the British Institute of Inn keeping initiative and she is also a registered food safety consultant, trainer and examiner for the Royal Society of Public Health.
Louise moved to Launceston in January 2015 with her family from their home town in Bournemouth. She is married to Greg and together they have one son, Harvey, who is a pupil at St Joseph’s. She now runs an award winning B&B, Caravan Club CL site and holiday cottage business, where she puts into practice all that she has trained others to do for the last three decades!
Louise is a keen gardener, loves to entertain her friends and where time permits, she enjoys days out with her family.
Mr D Jasper - Parent Governor
David has always lived in the local area, being raised in the farming community of South Petherwin. He is a local businessman, having spent his career helping to develop the family business into one of the largest independent meat companies in the South West, which is synonymous with quality and high standards.
David is the father of 6 children; this means he has lots of experience and spent a lot of time involved with school life over the past 28 years. Therefore when David’s youngest daughter joined St Josephs he was pleased to be able to bring the experience and knowledge he has gained over many years of parenting and running a successful business, to the role of Governor.
David sits on the Health and Safety Committee.
Mrs S Lewis - Foundation Governor
Having lived locally for most of her life Sue joined the Board of Governors in July 2012 and is a member of the Finance Committee.
She has worked for most of her career in Finance and Information Technology and retired in May 2011 after some 48years of employment.
Sue enjoys looking after her great nephews and nieces at holiday time and her hobbies include gardening, cooking and reading, she is also involved in church activities.
Sue swims a lot and loves all kinds of sport in particular squash and yoga and which she partakes in when time allows.
Mr N Pockett - Foundation Governor
Neil is a director of an international consultancy company working mainly within Russia and South East Asia recruiting students for UK schools. Consultancy work also includes working with several schools in St Petersburg training teachers with aspects of teaching techniques and keeping them informed of educational developments in the UK.
Neil has long experience in education and was a Head in the UK private school sector for 23 years. Neil led the UK school sector in the recruitment of international students, and in developing working programmes and routines to cater for them in the school environment. Other roles have included working for the Sports Council in an advisory capacity and also as a professional badminton coach/player.
Neil is an Independent Schools Inspector, has a degree in Fine Art as well as Physical Education and Mathematics and remains an active educator. He sits on the Academic Committee at St Joseph's School.
Mrs S Rowe - Foundation Governor
Sue is a former Headteacher at St Joseph's School and is currently working for the Independent Schools Association as their Regional Representative for the South West. This involves visiting schools and supporting Headteachers within ISA schools.
Sue has considerable experience of teaching Junior and Senior age groups in both the Independent and State sector.
Sue has three children who all attended St Joseph's and also runs a self catering holiday business with her husband.
Sue is a member of the Academic Committee.
Mr T Watkins - Foundation Governor
Trevor first worked in Launceston 40 years ago and has lived in the town for over 30 years. He joined the Board of Governors as a Foundation governor in 2010 following a 37 year career with HM Revenue and Customs, the later years being spent as a Senior Manager across the South West with responsibility for in excess of 100 staff. He is currently Vice Chairman of the main Board and Chairs the Finance Committee.Mrs
