about the junior school
The junior school develops confident, hardworking pupils who have both high self-esteem and a passion for learning. We also nurture pupils socially and pastorally, so that they don't just love school, but relish the friendships they form and the wide variety of activities available.
To this end, experienced, well qualified, and committed staff teach small class sizes. It's an environment that's simultaneously caring and stimulating, in which we're flexible enough to offer additional support or to recognise and challenge the gifted and talented (and our pastoral care was judged to be Excellent by the recent Independent Schools Inspectorate).
As pupils develop and seek a richness of opportunity, we meet their growing needs, with specialist teaching in Music, Drama, French, PE, ICT and Latin and weekly swimming lessons. There's also optional tuition in Tennis, Ballet and Drama (there's an annual production), and specialist weeks in Art, Science, Diversity and Sport (complete with a fixture programme which includes local, area and national competitions).
There's an annual residential programme, as well as many visits, offering pupils with a growing sense of confidence, curiosity and self-esteem the chance to prepare for their senior years.
