head pupil

Hello, I’m Laura, and I am the new Head Girl of the Senior School for the 2011-2012 academic year. The idea of this page is that I can give you an inside look at what is happening in the school from a pupil’s point of view. This page was started a couple of years ago by the Head Girl, Josie and was continued last year by Grace so I would like to carry on the tradition and keep it regularly updated.

At the end of the summer term the time of the Senior Production had arrived and the cast waited nervously behind the curtains while the audience sat patiently in their seats in front: the two night extravaganza of “Fame” had begun! It was a huge success and was enjoyed by everyone; all the practices had paid off.  A huge thank you must go to everyone who took part and supported us throughout the whole experience of “Fame”.

For most people the end of term signifies the start of the holidays, a time to relax and spend time with friends and family but not for Mrs Gibson, Mr Parkhouse and a group of 13 year 10 pupils. The Black Mountains in Wales was their next destination for a weekend full of walking, map reading and camp craft skills as they took part in their Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Although it was a tough weekend, everyone tackled each day with determination and crossed the finish line in high spirits and with huge grins. Well done!

In the early hours of Monday 25th July, a very excited Senior Chamber Choir travelled to Gatwick airport to start a week-long tour of Italy. The week was certainly jam packed, full of fun activities during the day and of course the amazing concerts in the evenings. There was a trip to the best water park in Europe, a 3 island tour to Murano, Burano and Venice to experience some of the local trades including lace making and glass blowing and not forgetting the once in a life time opportunity of singing at the mass in the beautiful St Mark’s Basilica. After the mass there was a buzz in the air as the new Head Chorister and her team was announced. Congratulations to you all! This was a great end to a fantastic trip. We would also like to say good luck and a fond farewell to the girls who are leaving St Joseph’s.

As we begin the new school year, it’s time to crack down and work hard once again but don’t forget to look out for more exciting events happening this term.

If you’re thinking about sending your son or daughter here, why not come and see for yourself? We have plenty of open days and if you’d rather come some other time, one of the pupils will be more than happy to show you around.
