Trip to Plymouth Pavilions

On Monday 14th June, Years 5 and 6 travelled to Plymouth Pavilions to see ‘BBC Concert Orchestra Learn’, a program designed to introduce the orchestra to students in Cornwall and Devon. The orchestra played some pieces of music that many of the children recognised; such as the theme tune for the Simpsons, the Imperial March and the theme from ‘Merlin’.  They also played some slightly less well known pieces such as ‘Spin Round Moscow’ composed by Demitri Shostakovich and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons played on the electric guitar. All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed their trip out.  Seeing and hearing Kirstin O’Brien introduce and explain each piece was a treat for everyone. We learned a lot about the music and the instruments that the orchestra played.  Hopefully after our wonderful experience many children will start to play an instrument or practise even harder if they already play one. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Smith for organising our trip. Pearl Bamford and Annie Westlake. (Year 5)
