Tuesday saw Our Year 8 students, as well as a team of 6 Year 7 students, take part in the Faraday challenge day run by the Institute of Engineering Technology.
Students were in 6 teams for the day and had to tackle an Engineering problem set by Airbus. They took the problem from initial design to producing a working prototype, analysing and making changes to improve their design and finally giving a presentation evaluating the successes of their projects and areas for further improvement.
Everyone worked extremely well throughout. Miss McLean was pleased to see everyone having a role within individual teams and everyone contributing to the presentations at the end of the day. This was a tough challenge where students faced accepting failure as a key part of engineering solutions to real life problems. Everyone rose to that challenge and there was a competitive atmosphere throughout.
After a tough fought competition, Thomas, Phoebe, Melissa, Jack and Eddie were the winning team. Well done to all students for being such fantastic ambassadors of St Joseph’s and for being excellent engineers!
