On Monday 11th April the members of Miss Patten’s science club from last year were invited to the Otter and Butterfly sanctuary at Buckfastleigh to be presented with the schools Primary Science Quality Mark Gold Award in recognition of the schools commitment to quality science provision. It was a hugely enjoyable day for everyone, and the children were even treated a talk on the work of the sanctuary. One of the true highlights of the day was coming face to face with some of the world’s most exotic butterflies. They also had encounters with inquisitive otters and watched them being fed whilst they showed off their swimming prowess underwater. The children were certainly very proud of their award as you can see.
