Year 3 went on a brilliant trip to Greystone Quarry as part of their Rocks and Soils Science project. They had an excellent time and learnt lots of interesting facts about rocks and minerals. Did you know that the stone from Cornwall is used in building roads all over the country?
The children enjoyed going on a rock hunt and finding lots of gold, well fools gold anyway, and the whole class got to choose their favourite rock to take home with them.
The highlight of the day was going down into the pit and having the chance to press the blaster detonator! Luckily it was only connected to a small explosive and not dynamite.
St Joseph’s School’s Year 3 pupils would like to say thank you to the staff at Greystone Quarry for such an exciting and interesting day.
