Cornish & Devon Post Feature April 2012

To support their learning of Spanish, 21 students from St. Joseph’s School recently participated in an exciting trip to the fascinating region of Andalucía in southern Spain. The students were kept busy with a full itinerary of excursions, lessons and cultural experiences.  This included  visits to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Alhambra with its amazing backdrop of the Sierra Nevada,  the Royal Equestrian School in Jerez, the famous centre for Spanish dressage horses, a ride on a cable car overlooking the Costa del Sol and the Mediterranean and of course a fun day to the local theme park ‘Tivoli World’. In addition to excursions and days out, students attended 6 hours of intensive Spanish lessons over 3 days at the Colegio Maravillas, which greatly enhanced their speaking and listening skills and boosted their confidence at interacting with native speakers. They were also treated to flamenco lessons and shown how to cook ‘paella’, which they then ate as a farewell meal on the sunny terrace of the language school.  A great time was had by all and many were inspired to return soon!
