Here at St Joseph’s there is a rich tradition of academic success stretching back many years. GCSE results bear this out, but it is the Firm Foundation laid from Year 7 that ensures this success. Students are provided with a rich variety of curricular choices from their first day in Year 7, and these only develop as they move through the school.

In Year 7 pupils will study the Core subjects of English, Maths and Science, alongside History, Geography, Religious Studies, French, Spanish, German, PE, Games, Music, Food Technology, Design Technology, Textiles, Art and ICT/Computing. This rich curriculum allows them to find areas they are skilled in, and use this confidence to help them in areas they may find more of a challenge.

During the Spring term, Year 8 will have an Options evening, as students make their Options choices. These are tailored to pupil preferences, and change year on year, as we construct a bespoke Options block unique to the needs of each year group. Pupils will then begin their 3 year GCSE course in Year 9. In Year 9 the pupils' curriculum will be enriched by studying non GCSE subjects including Humanities/Cultural Awareness/Outdoor Education/Music/Drama and study skills lessons.

Additional GCSE choice subjects include Digital Photography and Economics, and there is the option to select from either Separate Sciences or to study Combined Science. We can also cater for those with reduced timetables as required.

The breadth of the curriculum offered is quite remarkable given the number of pupils in each of our year groups. We are very happy indeed to discuss this with any prospective parents, and are always available for meetings at times that are convenient. Please contact to arrange a time.
